Baseball, Women's Lacrosse & Softball Players Earn ECAC All-Region Honors
June 5 - Amherst College placed six student-athletes from three different sports on ECAC Division III New England All-Star Teams this week, including sophomore third baseman Matt Potter (Durham, NC), an Honorable Mention ECAC All-New England selection as well as a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Third-Team New England Region All-American. Potter, Leduc Earn All-NESCAC Honors
May 22 - Amherst College placed two players on the 2002 All-NESCAC baseball team. Sophomore third baseman Matt Potter posted a team-high .409 bating average en route to a first-team selection, while senior hurler Jeff Leduc earned second-team honors for the second consecutive season. Full Story

Jeffs Sweep Twin Bill Against Colby in Regular Season Finale
May 4 - The Amherst baseball team swept both games of a doubleheader against visiting non-league foe Colby College Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field. Senior hurler Jeff Leduc tossed a three-hit shutout as the Jeffs won the opener, 3-0. The hosts then pounded out 10 hits to win the second contest, 9-1. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to NESCAC and Little Three Rival Williams, 15-5
May 3 - The Amherst baseball team was downed by NESCAC and Little Three rival Williams College, 15-5, Friday afternoon at Deerfield Academy. The Ephs jumped out on top with six runs in the first inning. The Jeffs cut the lead to 6-5 in the sixth inning, but Williams was able to answer with nine more runs on their way to victory and a NESCAC Tournament berth. Full Story

Jeffs Hammer Springfield, 11-1
April 30 - The Amherst baseball team downed visiting non-league foe Springfield College, 11-1, Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Field. The Jeffs pounded out 14 hits in the game and tallied five runs in the bottom of the fifth on their way to victory. First-year outfielder David Powers had a huge day at the plate for Amherst, going 4-for-4 while knocking in five runs. Full Story

Brody Tabbed NESCAC Player of the Week
April 29 - After leading the Amherst baseball team to a 2-1 record, with a pair of wins over NESCAC rivals Trinity and Williams this week, senior second baseman John Brody was tabbed NESCAC Player of the Week, for the period ending April 28. Full Story

Jeffs Split Doubleheader with Williams
April 27 - The Amherst baseball team split a doubleheader with Williams College Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field. The Jeffs pounded out 13 hits to take the opening game, 8-2. In the second contest, Williams tallied the lone run in the fourth inning on a fielder's choice to defeat Amherst, 1-0. Both teams will travel to Williamstown tomorrow for a 1 p.m. match-up with a NESCAC Championship Tournament berth at stake. Full Story

Jeffs Pound Trinity, 16-3
April 23 - After sweeping a three-game set against visiting NESCAC West Division foe Hamilton College, the Amherst College baseball team pounded out 20 hits to defeat host Trinity College, 16-3, Tuesday afternoon. Junior catcher Joe Katuska and sophomore outfielder Paul Whiting each homered for the Jeffs. Full Story
