Amherst Too Much for Ice-Cold Colby
Katie Hersey Scorches White Mules for 26 points, 14 boards

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Tonight in LeFrak Gymnasium, the crowd of 97 dedicated fans witnessed two teams going in different directions. Amherst College, winners of four straight and six of their last seven, went on two seperate runs, 17-3 in the first half and 20-6 in the second to bury the visiting Colby College White Mules 66-50. Down only 8 at the half, the White Mules went cold in the second frame. Shooting just 20.6% from the field after the intermission, they were outscored by the red-hot Jeffs 20-6 during the first ten minutes of the second.

The Jeffs were led by senior co-captain Katie Hersey (Westford, MA), who was dominant down low in the paint and on the boards. On the night, Hersey punched in 26 points and 14 rebounds, both game-highs. Hersey's fellow captain Janinne Noel (Dalton, MA) chipped in 13 points of her own, including 3 bombs from beyond the arc. For the White Mules, Kim Condon (Presque Isle, ME) scored a team-high 19 points while Erin Cole-Karagory (Caribou, ME) and Amanda Cochrane (Arlington, MA) both finished with eight. Amherst hits the court again tomorrow at home versus Bowdoin College at 3:00 p.m.
