Hersey and Noel Score 14 Apiece as the Jeffs Torpedo Coast Guard
Senior combo too much for the struggling Bears

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- After losing their first two games, the Amherst College women's basketball squad has reeled off an impressive three-game winning streak that has seen the Jeffs blast their opponents by an alarming 233-145 clip. To highlight the Jeffs impressive win, Katie Hersey (Westford, MA) notched a double-double (14 points and 13 rebounds), the 30th in her career, while Janinne Noel (Dalton, MA) knocked down four three-pointers. Junior guard Liza Feldman (Lincoln, MA) came off the bench with a hot hand. Feldman shot 71% from the field on 5 of 7 shooting and drained 2 trifectas in the second half. Dierdre McCarthy (Oradell, NJ) continued to dominate the paint, scoring 7 tough points and pulling down 9 rebounds.

The Jeffs raced out to a 9-0 lead over the visitng Bears and never looked back. The lead was 14 at the half and ballooned all the way to 20 at various times throughout the contest. The Lord Jeffs shot a blistering 53% from the field in the first half and cooled down to a respectable 43% for the game. Amherst currently leads the NESCAC in field-goal percentage.

Amherst travels to Boston to take on Wellesley College this Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.
