Dave Hixon Earns his 350th Career Win
Amherst battles to defeat Tufts for milestone victory

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- The Amherst College Lord Jeffs completed a weekend sweep this afternoon by defeating the visiting Tufts University Jumbos 76-66. For Amherst College head coach Dave Hixon, the win was the 350th of his career and his team's 14th of the season. The Jeffs once again relied upon a balanced offensive attack and posted five players scoring in double-figures. Leading the way for Amherst was junior Hugh Quattlebaum and senior co-captain Josh Anish, each finishing with 14 points. Quattlebaum also led the Jeffs with 7 boards.

The game was close throughout as neither team led by more than 8 points. Tufts cut the lead to one with a minute and a half remaining before they were called for a critical charging penalty that led to a four-point Amherst spurt that put the game away. Dan Flaherty led the Jumbos with 18 points while Fred Pedroletti added 16 of his own.

Amherst hits the court again on Wednesday evening against Connecticut College at home (7:30).
