Bates No Match for Hot-Shooting Amherst
Lord Jeffs shoot 52.8 % from the field in 97-70 blowout

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Amherst sported five player in double-figures and shot 52% from the field as they breezed by the Bates College Bobcats en route to their thirteenth win of the season. Sophomore Erik Kelly (Staples, MN), senior Chris Ingraham (Tucson, AZ), and junior Chris Smith (Swarthmore, PA) each scored 17 points and the Jeffs knocked down 10 three-pointers as the Bobcats couldn't survive the offensive deluge.

On the strength of a 25-6 run to close out the first half, the Jeffs took a commanding 57-29 lead into the break. The game was basically over at that point. The Bobcats never cut the lead to under 20 points during the second half and the Jeffs coasted home for the easy win. Bates was led by a strong 22 point effort from sophomore center Rommel Padanou (Libreville, Gabon)

The win is the second in a row for Amherst and their second 30+ point blowout during that stretch. The Jeffs go for their fourteenth of the season tomorrow afternoon at home versus Tufts University at 3:00 p.m.
