Hamilton Defeats Amherst 10-6

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Amy Williams (Potsdam, NY) had five goals and three assists to lead Hamilton to a 10-6 victory over Amherst in the teams' season opener. The junior tallied three of her scores off feeds by Lauren Spoon (Birmingham, MI) and Amy Rini, a pair who combined for a nine points between them.

Amherst scored first just 2:03 into the game on the first of three Jess Frisch (Bethesda, MD) goals. The Continentals countered with three of their own to claim a 3-1 lead early in the second period, before rookie Gretchen Bowe (Hampstead, NH) notched her first goal just 19 seconds later.

Leading 5-3 heading into the final period, Hamilton exploded with five scores, including three Williams goals. Amherst goalie Sarah Evans (Columbus, OH) made 48 saves, while Continental keeper Andrea Cecchinato (Thomaston, CT) had 24 in her season debut.
