Trinity Women's Hoops wins Sixth in a Row versus Amherst

Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College women's basketball team defeated NESCAC rival Amherst College by a score of 49-30 for its sixth consecutive win after a 1-2 season start. The game opened up the Bantams league season.

The two teams shot a combined 12-48 (25%) in the first half and totaled 28 first half turnovers, with Trinity taking a 16-12 lead into the intermission. The Bantams went on a 9-0 run early in the second half to build a 26-16 lead, and outscored Amherst, 33 18 in the second half for the 17-point win.

Sophomore forward Gretchen MacColl paced the Bantams with 13 points and eight rebounds, while junior guard Kate Leonard had 11 points and senior forward Sarah Martin had 10 off the bench. Senior guard Colleen McGlynn added 12 rebounds and five assists for Trinity.

The Lady Jeffs were led by senior forward Sarah Rinaldi with nine points. Sophomore forward Naomi Sullivan grabbed seven rebounds off the bench.
