Amherst Men and Women Defeat Middlebury

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Amherst men's and women's swimming and diving both defeated Middlebury College in Panther Head Coach Peter Solomon's first showdown with his old teams. Solomon had led the Jeffs for the last four years before heading north to Vermont this season.

The women opened up with a pool record in the 400 medley relay as the team of Megan Mardy (Mendham, NJ), Kerry Weeks (Longmeadow, MA), Tiffany Johnston (Centerville, MA) and Sarah Lukaska (Edina, MN) claimed first place with a 4:07.70 finish, 0.43 seconds faster than the Pratt Pool best set last year in part by Weeks and Lukaska.

The men squeaked by the Panthers in the final two events as sophomore Pat Lahey (Northfield, IL) edged out Alex Klose (Bethesda, MD) in the third leg to touch 0.14 seconds before the rookie's finish.
