Amherst Defeats New England College 5-1

In Henniker, NH this afternoon, Amherst jumped out to a 5-0 lead within the first ten minutes and NEC never really recovered as the Jeffs skated to a 5-1 victory. Senior tri-captain Doug Erickson (Billerica, MA/Deerfield) opened the scoring a minute and a half into the first period off a feed from senior Dan Moos (Wayzata, MN/Blake). Twenty seconds later, Tim Quinn scored on the rebound of a Matt Drawz (Deephaven, MN/Breck) shot. Drawz added a goal of his own two minutes later, and junior forward Rob MacDonald (Walpole, MA/Taft) scored at 7:51. Mike Noone finished off the scoring at 9:35, converting a nice pass from Chris Orszulak, who again had two assists. Chris Addesa made 25 saves.

Next Saturday Amherst (2-0) will take on Connecticut College (2-0) in the first round of the McCabe Tournament in Amherst.
