UConn Defeats Amherst, 3-2

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Dan Sheehan (Norwood, MA) poked in the game-winner early in the third period to post a 3-2 victory for the University of Connecticut over host Amherst College. UConn improves to 7-9 overall and 5-5 in the ECAC East while Amherst falls to 7-6-1, 5-4-1 in the league.

The Huskies had taken a two-goal lead within the first four minutes of play behind a fast-paced offense. Rob Martin (Islandia, NY) slapped in UConn's first goal just 22 seconds after the opening whistle, and Michael Narotski (West Roxbury, MA) followed with the Huskies' second tally just over the three-minute mark.

Senior Mike Noone (Swampscott, MA) put the Jeffs on the board with one second remaining in the opening period on the first of two Lord Jeff power play goals, Noone's fifth of the season. Charlie Blyth (Beaconsfield, Quebec) equalized midway through the second period.
