WELLESLEY, Massachusetts -- Babson College junior Greg Toskos (Waldwick, NJ) broke in and fired a wrist shot past Amherst College goalie Chris Addesa (Andover, MA) with 1:56 remaining in overtime to lift the Beavers (10-1-2, 5-1-2 ECAC East) to a 4-3 win over the Lord Jeffs (6-5-1, 4-3-1 ECAC East) at the Babson Skating Center. The Beavers extended their unbeaten streak to eight games (7-0-1) with the win.
Amherst had forced the extra session with just 5.7 seconds remaining in regulation when senior Tom Carideo (Winthrop, MA) poked home a rebound past Babson goalie Rob MacLean (Bedfor, Nova Scotia) after a scramble in front to tie the game at 3-3. MacLean, who has not lost since December 5, made 21 saves for Babson.
After Babson took a 2-0 lead on first period goals by junior Ryan Dyment (Reading, MA) and freshman Eric Bookbinder (Buffalo, NY), Amherst fought back with a pair of second period tallies to tie the game at 2-2. Senior Tim Kelly (St. Johnsbury, VT) got the first goal on a rebound and senior Mike Noone (Swampscott, MA) tallied the equalizer on the power play at 17:20 of the second.
Bookbinder got his second of the game and team-leading 11th of theyear at 2:40 of the third, and it appeared that the Beavers were going to escape with the win until Carideo scored with Addesa on the bench and Amherst using an extra skater.
