AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Pat Mulvey (Rye, NH), a sophomore guard on the Amherst College men's basketball team, was named to the ECAC Honor Roll for the week ending December 6, 1997. Honor roll and player of the week distinctions are bestowed weekly by the ECAC, co-sponsored by AmeriSuites.
Mulvey posted a career-high 22 points in the Jeffs' 100-90 victory at Clark last Thursday. The sophomore shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor, including a trio of three-pointers and 3-for-3 at the line. Mulvey followed up this performance with a 10-point, 6-rebound show in an 81-65 win at Skidmore on Saturday.
Amherst men's basketball is off to a 4-0 start after its second-ever NCAA appearance in 1997. A major contributor in his rookie campaign, Mulvey has warded off the sophomore slump by averaging 10.3 points per game as the team's third leading scorer. In his four games, the guard has rattled in half of his shots while making 46.5% of attempts beyond the arc.
The Jeffs are next in action tomorrow night as they travel to Western New England College for a 7:30pm meeting.
