Amherst Clobbers Emerson, 122-86

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Fourteen Lord Jefs scored as top-seeded Amherst College (20-4) posted a 122-86 ECAC Quarterfinal victory over No. 8 Emerson College (20-6). Amherst advances to the semifinals against fifth-seeded Keene State (20-4), who upset No. 4 Worcester State 101-90. The game will be held at 7:00pm in LeFrak Gymnasium in Amherst, Massachusetts.

After trading baskets for the first three minutes, Amherst claimed the lead for good with a 7-0 run at the 15-minute mark. The Jeffs extended that lead to a 56-33 advantage at the break off 20 Lion turnovers and 13 Lord Jeff steals.

The Jeffs continued their offensive in the second half, hitting seven of their nine 3-pointers for the night. A 9-0 solo run by junior Chris Ingraham (Tuscon, AZ) sparked a 25-6 Lord Jeff series that gave Amherst its biggest lead of the night, 104-58, a 46-point advantage, with 8:17 to play. Amherst shot 79.3% (23-29) from the floor as the Jeffs registered 66 points in the second half. The Jeffs were four points shy of re-setting a single-game scoring record.

John Pavelski (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) was one of four Lord Jeffs in double figures with 20, including four 3-pointers to give him 188 in his career.
