Game Notes: Amherst sent 14 players to the plate in the 1st inning, banging out eight hits to score nine runs. Each starter reached base and scored once in the inning. Pitcher Allison Schwarting was 3-for-3 and drove in two runs as she finished the double header going 6-for-7 and winning both games, allowing just three runs, two of them earned, in 12 innings of work. She walked one and struck out nine in the two games. Sarah Krauss had a double for Wesleyan and scored the lone run in the 2nd game.


Trinity Gains Split with Amherst

HARTFORD, Connecticut -- Sophomore Beth Mooradian had two hits and pitched a three-hitter in the first game to help the Trinity College softball team manage a split with the Amherst College Lord Jeffs in New England Small College Athletic Conference action this afternoon.

Freshman Tricia Mase also had two hits for Trinity in the first game. Moordian did not strike out or walk a batter in seven innings, earning her fifth win of the season.

In the second game, Amherst sophomore Allison Schwarting tossed a two-hitter, and had three hits and an RBI to lead Amherst to a 13-1 five inning win. Senior co-captain Sarah Rinaldi had three hits, including a solo homer in the fifth inning.
