Amherst Dominates In Shutout Win Over Brandeis
Lord Jeffs stay unbeaten with 2-0 win over the Judges
AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Andy Kay '00 and Gary Kegel '00 each scored a goal and Kay added an assist as the #7 ranked Amherst College Lord Jeff Men's Soccer Team won their second game of the year over Brandeis University. Andy Kay, who scored a goal in the Amherst win over Colby College this last weekend, continued his field dominance against the Judges. The quick and savvy junior netted a goal into the upper left corner at the 17:19 point in the first half and then set up Gary Kegel with a perfect pass at the 37:05 point in the second for the Jeffs final tally.
Goalie Kevin Larner '99 weathered a couple of Brandeis flurries in the first and the second and notched his first shutout of the season (6 saves total). The Lord Jeffs dictated the flow of the game throughout and held a 12-10 edge in shots on goal.
The Amherst squad hits the field again this Saturday on the road against WNEC (September 19 -- 1:00 p.m.)
