Amherst Men Defeat Colby College, 2-1

Amherst comes out on top of a hard-fought battle

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- In a game scattered with yellow cards and physical play, the Amherst College Men's Soccer team came up with a winning goal in the second half to knock off the visiting Colby College White Mules. The nationally ranked Lord Jeffs dominated the pace of the game, leading 20-4 in shots on goal. Senior Andy Kay notched his first goal of the year in the first, only to see Mark Melander of Colby put a penalty kick into the upper left corner to tie the score. Senior Matt Diggs came out for the second half and put the White Mules away with his first tally of the 1998 season.
