Gettleman and Ackerman Notch 2 Apiece as the Jeffs Knock-Out the Engineers

JEFFS GO FOR THE LITTLE III TITLE THIS SATURDAY AT WESLEYAN

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Tyra Gettleman '00 (Orono, ME) and Robin Ackerman '02 (Princeton, NJ) each tallied 2 goals as the Lord Jeffs steamrolled the W.P.I. Engineers Thursday afternoon at Hichcock Field. For Gettleman, the two goals brought her season total to five, tops on the squad. The goals were the first of Ackerman's collegiate career. The Jeffs raced out to a 3-0 lead at the intermission and the reserves hit the field and added more fuel to the already blazing fire. Goalkeeper Beth Sensing '02 (Hockessin, DE) was forced to make only 2 saves on the afternoon and was credited with her sixth shutout of her rookie season. In the dominating effort, the Jeffs outshot the Engineers 26-2 and held a solid 12-5 edge in penalty shots.

At 8-3, the Jeffs are sitting pretty as they await the Little III matchup this Saturday at rival Wesleyan (11:00 a.m.) After defeating Williams 2-1 last Saturday, the Jeffs can clinch the Little III Title with a win Saturday over the Cardinals. GOOD LUCK!!!
