Smith (8-10) 0 0 0

NORTHAMPTON, Massachusetts -- The Amherst College Field Hockey team won their third straight game and brought their season record to 10-3 with a 1-0 drubbing of Smith College yesterday evening. Junior Alie Stechenberg (E. Longmeadow, MA) notched her sixth goal of the year and added to her team leading total of sixteen points. Freshman goalkeeper Beth Sensing (Hockessin, DE) only made three saves on the game but completed her ninth shutout victory of the season. Sensing currently leads the NESCAC in goalkeeping statistics and has spearheaded the Jeffs dominant defense this year.

The Jeffs beat Wesleyan last Saturday 5-0, securing the Little III title -- the Jeffs downed archrival Williams two weeks ago, 2-1. Amherst faces Tufts University this Saturday morning, the final game of their regular season schedule. With a victory, the Jeffs hope to gain a berth into the NCAA Division III tournament.
