Men's Ice Hockey Coaches

  Jack Arena
Head Coach
Jack Arena is in his 14th year as head coach of the Amherst hockey program. During his tenure, Amherst has had its seven winningest seasons in college history and been selected to the ECAC Tournament eight times. The 1992 and 1996 teams captured the ECAC Championship, as Arena was named "Coach of the Year" by both the ECAC and the New England Hockey Writers Association at the conclusion of the 1995-96 season. He was also one of four finalists for the Division III "National Coach of the Year" award.

A 1983 graduate of Amherst College, Arena is fourth on the school's all-time scoring list. After his senior season at Amherst, he was named the 1983 Hoby Baker Award winner, given to the "Most Outstanding Collegiate Player" in the country for Division III

  Mark Buckley
Assistant Coach
Mark Buckley will be entering his seventh season with the men's ice hockey program. An A.I.C. graduate, he was a professional goaltender before joining the Lord Jeff staff. Buckley has played an important role in the development and success of the goaltenders, but also provides an in-depth knowledge of the game as a whole and specializes in special teams play.

  Greg Carvel
Assistant Coach
In his first season with the Lord Jeffs, Greg Carvel played first division professional hockey for a year in Ostervala, Sweden. He was a captain of the St. Lawrence University Saints and a GTE Academic All-American. Most recently, Carvel was a mathematics teacher and assistant athletic director at the Canterbury School while coaching the varsity hockey team.
