Jamal Wilson scored 19 points to lead the Jeffs to an 89-64 win over Westfield State. His seven steals sparked a second half run that pushed the Amherst lead to as much as 26 with 5 left to play. Wilson currently ranks No. 9 in all time scorers with 1047 points in his career.
Junior John Pavelski opened up the game with two of his four three-pointers for the Jeffs. This is the fourth game this season the 6-5 forward has hit four from long range. After deadlocking at 6-6 early in the game, Amherst blew open the game with a 13-0 run off of three Jeff steals on consecutive Owl possessions. Westfield took their only lead of the game a 25-24 with 3:31 left in the first, but a quick Wilson jumper reclaimed the lead for the Jeffs toward a 10-point lead at halftime.
Westfield State's Dan Racine led all scorers with 22 points, while both he and Amherst's Chris Smith had 7 rebounds a piece.
