AMHERST, Massachusetts -- With John Stuart's (Chestnut Hill, MA) victory over Bruce Jacobs (Pittsburgh, PA) at No. 1 singles, Williams clinched a 4-3 victory over Little III rival Amherst. The Jeffs had taken an early 1-0 lead after claiming the doubles point with 8-4 wins by Yo Kobayashi (Palo Alto, CA)-Noah Lippe-Klein (Palo Alto, CA) and Ryan Cole (Pikesville, MD) Harlan Stock (West Hartford, CT) at 2nd and 3rd flights.
As the even singles flights finshed, the archrivals stood at two points a piece. While Adam Wolf (Roslyn Heights, NY) claimed his 13th match win of the season, Andrew Faganholz (Erie, PA) and Sherman Lim (Singapore) likewise bettered their individual records with victories over Stock (6-4, 6-2) and Ed Rosenfeld (Louisville, KY), respectively. Both Wolf and Lim won in three sets.
Cole finished out the afternoon by disposing of Keith Tonkin (Arlington, TN) in a grueling three-setter that lasted well over two hours.
Williams extends its record to 8-0 while Amherst falls to 10-3 for the spring.
