WILLIAMSTOWN, Massachusetts -- Rookie Lyssa Castonguay (Woodstock, VT) scored with just eight seconds left on the game clock as Williams posted a 1-0 victory over archrival Amherst. The Ephs had just three shots on goal all day.
Sophomore Alie Stechenberg (Longmeadow, MA) scored for Amherst with just over 11 minutes left in the second half, but the goal was waved off because of dangerous circumstances. The Jeffs leveled 15 shots against a steady Williams defense, forcing Eph goalie Jennifer Akey (Greenfield, MA) to make five saves.
Williams betters its record to 8-2 while Amherst falls to the same mark. Both teams are in action again this coming Saturday, October 18th as Williams hosts Tufts and Amherst prepares to wrap-up Little III competition at Homecoming against Wesleyan. Williams has already met the Cardinals and fell 1-0 in Middletown, Connecticut.
