Women's Soccer Turns Up Intensity to Win on the Road

Shaunette Richards '98 redirected a shot by Katie Missett '99 for the lone goal of the match against Wheaton College. Katie Hersey '99 had crossed a long ball from the corner to Missett, which she fired directly at goalie Jess Johnson. Heading into the box, Richards guided the ball around a diving keeper for the game winner.

This is Richards's fourth goal of the season and the 22nd for the Jeffs in ten games. While they allowed frustration to gnaw at them in the first half, Amherst turned up the pressure in the second. While helping to anchor a solid defense that has allowed only two ll season, Laura Kochansky '98 also sparked the offense with a series of overlapping runs, pushing the Jeffs upfield.

Amherst travels to Middletown, Connecticut on Saturday to face the second of two Little III opponents. Last weekend, the Jeffs tied archrival Williams 1-1 in an overtime contest in Amherst.
