Welcome to the Amherst Sci-Fi/Fantasy Club (SFFC) Web Page! SFFC started up late in 2001, thanks to the efforts of Raquel Cardona and Peter Bulmer. We provide a forum for students to share and explore their interest in Science Fiction and Fantasy literature, films, activities and games.
We're having Dining with Dragons as usual at 6 on Saturday in the Terrace Rooms downstairs in Val. Matt be teaching Illuminati to anyone interested and of course anyone else is welcome to bring their own games. Come and talk to people who share your addictions!
There is a movie screening in our future. Stay tuned for more information.
The first week of April will see ConBust at Smith College. For information about ConBust, check out the Web site.
ConDuct2, Amherst College's Second Annual Science Fiction/Fantasy/Anime/Gaming convention, has come and gone. Many thanks to all who attended and especially those who single-mindedly ignored their homework to make the Con happen. Pictures may be posted on the site some time in the near future.
Forum - We now have our own online forum, kindly hosted by Sunderland's Phoenix Games. Head over there to chat, organize, ask questions, or anything else.
Valley Fandom - Catch up on what's happening in the Pioneer Valley! Screenings, trips, workshops, discounts and more from the Valley's clubs and merchants are listed here. (Or, if you're planWorld enabled, on our plan as well.)
Boffing* - Boffing practice is held every week, usually. E-mail Matt Peverill to be notified when we boff.
*Note on "Boffing" - Boffing, the fine art of hitting other people with foam-covered PVC weapons without hurting them, is not an official SFFC activity. It is a group activity that relates to fantasy fiction, something that is probably attractive to people on the SFFC mailing list, and is spearheaded by several people related to the SFFC, hence it's announced with other SFFC events. In rare exceptions (say, ConDuct) boffing does run concurrently with other SFFC events and in those cases a waiver must be signed before one can participate. In no way is the SFFC responsible for anything (including damages) boffing-related.
