MEDICAL SCHOOL APPLICATION CHECKLIST
FOR AMHERST COLLEGE STUDENTS AND GRADUATES

Print out this checklist and keep it handy so you can meet every deadline. Check off each item as you do what’s required to apply to medical school through the Amherst Health Professions Committee. Page number references to the "Guide" refer to the printed version of Part II of the Amherst College Guide for Premedical Students - similar to the web version.

I made a commitment to use one of the three ways to prepare for the MCAT

I found four Amherst faculty, including at least two science faculty, to write a recommendation for me by the April 18 due date, and I gave each of them a copy of the info. sheet for recommenders (or, May 16 for recommenders who are teaching you in a class this semester):

I attended the April meeting for Amherst applicants, unless I graduated and am not in Amherst

I submitted my one-page résumé to Nadine Alexander (Due date: April 18)

I submitted my personal statement to Nadine Alexander (Due date: April 18)

I submitted my waiver of right to see the evaluation letter to Nadine (Due date: April 18)

list I submitted my list of faculty recommenders to Nadine (Due date: April 18)

I sent thank-you notes to my faculty recommenders in mid-April

I submitted my green summer contact sheet to Nadine (Due date: May 15)

I downloaded the AMCAS application from the AAMC web site

I bought my copy of the 2009-2010 Medical School Admission Requirements

I requested an official transcript using the official AMCAS form

I finished and submitted my AMCAS application, if at all possible before June 30

I mailed or gave (not e-mailed or faxed) my official blue school list/AMCAS ID form to Nadine (Due date: July 15)

I’ve done my first secondary application, and resolve to do all others promptly after receiving them

I attended the September interview workshop given by Dean Bassett, if I’m in Amherst then.

After all that, now we hope you can check off the final boxes:

I got an interview! AND......... I WAS ACCEPTED!
