Sports update, football vs. Bates at Exeter, NH (NESCAC Scrimmage

TRINITY FOOTBALL BATTLES BATES IN PRESEASON NESCAC SCRIMMAGE
Exeter, NH. - The 1999 Trinity College football team began competition this
afternoon with the annual pre-season NESCAC scrimmage against Bates College
at Phillips Exeter Academy.
The two teams played an even game, with each squad scoring a pair of
touchdowns. Trinity got on the board first, after junior quaterback Gregg
Wysocki (New Britain, CT) connected with senior wide receiver Jay Wright
(Yeadon, PA) on a 63-yard pass and sophomore fullback Matt Gjerulff
(Rockville, MD) plunged into the end zone from the one-yard line on the next
play.
Bates scored a pair of touchdowns in the second half, on a long pass
play and an interception return. The Bantams scored the game's final
touchdown on a three-yard run by sophomore runnung back Julian Gratry
(Chagrin Falls, OH).
Trinity will begin the regular season next Saturday, Sept. 15, at
Colby College at 1:30 p.m.
