Worcester is bordered on the northwest by Holden; on the north by West Boylston; on the east by Shrewsbury and Grafton; on the southeast by Millbury; on the southwest by Auburn; and on the west by Leicester and Paxton.
It is the home of The College of the Holy Cross ("Holy Cross") (1843), Worcester Polytechnic
Institute ("Worcester Tech," "W. P. I.") (1865), Clark University (1887), and a number of other
colleges. It is also the home of Worcester Academy Preparatory School (1834).
