• Washburn on Windows (http://pcrdist.cit.cornell.edu/): The essay on variables (under the PC-Rdist 2.0 link) very clearly describes how powerful they are and how they can be used.
• Pyzzo free support: The web site's Knowledge Base and "Common Problems" (buried in the documentation) both answer some tricky problems you're sure to run into. The documentation in PDF format is essential.

• JSI, Inc.(www.jsiinc.com/reghack.htm): Almost any practical question on advanced Windows 2000 features can be answered by JSI's tips. The sections on batch file programming are invaluable.
• Windows 2000 Resource Kit: The CD-ROM's extra applications (a command-line logoff program, the SOON command, a logoff screen saver, etc.) and online documentation (including in-depth description of different sections of the registry) make this well worth the purchase price.
• Windows 2000 MS-DOS Reference (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/en/professional/help/ntcmds.htm): The thorough descriptions of each command are very important, especially for AT and the "Batch Commands" section.
• Lockergnome Tech Specialist Newsletter (http://www.lockergnome.com/issues/techspecialist.html): Weekday updates from an admin in the know. Lots of links to interesting documentation, free utilities, new hardware announcements, and commentary.
• Google (google.com): It's likely that someone, somewhere, has tried to do what you want to do and written about it. I put a few careful words into Google, and, more often than not, my question is answered. If you can't find a web page, try the Usenet groups. I use their IE toolbar every day.
