Animal Shelter in Need of Volunteers and Donations
Thousands of pets were separated from their owners in the haste to leave town, the refusal of shelters to accept pets, and the expectation that the departure would be brief.
Mary Koncel of Smith College has worked with a humane society in New Orleans last January helping to care for many of these most traumatized and innocent victims of the storm.
One of the goals of this group is to try to find new homes for these animals since their owners have not been found or are unable to take their pets with them as their own situation is still so uncertain.
Mary has heard from them just recently about how desperate they are for volunteers, for funds, and for new homes for these pets.
