Recording Locations and Schedule

HUNTER/ECKHART LAB— June 16, morning.

We used the DAT recorder with hand-held stereo microphone to collect ambient as well as directed sounds from the lab. Digital photographs were taken of the objects/equipment in the lab.

TOUR BY ROGER GREIG— June 16, 11am.

We used the DAT recorder with hand-held stereo microphone to record the tour.

MATHIAS REUMERT IN CENTRAL COURT— June 16, afternoon.

Kent recorded using the DAT and various microphones, at both close range and far.  Locations included the meditation pool, the central court, and side court. Our goal was to record the acoustic response of the court using percussion sounds as the impulse source.

SALK INSTITUTE AT NIGHT— June 16, midnight.

We used the DAT recorder with hand-held stereo microphone in the central courtyard and pools/waterfalls to collect the seeming silence of the windless court.

JASON ROBINSON IN CENTRAL COURT— June 17, morning and afternoon.

Kent recorded using the DAT recorder and various microphones, at both close range and far.  Locations included the meditation pool, the central court, and side courts. Our goal was to record the acoustic response of the court using the complex timbre of several wind instruments (saxophone, clarinet, and flute) as the impulse source.
