Recording Locations and Schedule

LIBRARY HALL— early morning.

We recorded using the DAT and Rode NT3 microphones.  They were positioned mid-court perpendicular to axis of the court.  Their position was adjusted during the session.  Performers were in various locations in the hall such as in the center, the corner, and near the concrete cylinder.  The wood floor and paneled walls were highly responsive.  In addition the large concrete cylinder sent the sound away and then back, creating much ambient complexity.

ENTRANCE COURT— mid-morning.

We recorded using the DAT and Rode NT3 microphones.  They were  positioned centrally in the hall, directed upwards.  The performers were generally close to the middle.  The acoustics of the space were highly reveberant.

 ENTRANCE COURT— noon.

We recorded using the DAT and Rode NT3 microphones.  They were positioned centrally in the hall, directed upwards.  The performers were generally close to the middle, though for the percussion section, moved around the perimeter of the space.

4th FLOOR STAIRWELL— afternoon.

We recorded using the DAT and hand-held stereo microphone. The sounds from the stairwell banisters were very reminiscent of the Exeter library stairwell.

LIBRARY HALL— afternoon.

We recorded using the DAT and hand-held stereo microphones. The performers and microphone were close to the middle.
