GPIBTTL

Triggerable GPIB Controller

Description

We have developed the hardware and software for a simple, inexpensive control system that executes one general-purpose interface bus (GPIB) command each time a TTL trigger is received. The system permits accurate and reproducible timing of a GPIB sequence, independent of the microprocessor of the computer controlling the experiment.

System Requirements

The code is currently designed to work with the following hardware:

National Instruments AT-GPIB Card (or equivalent)

Borland Turbo C++ 1.01 Compiler

IBM-compatible personal computer

The programming system can be adapted to other hardware configurations. We note that this hardware list is for "demonstration" purposes only; the authors (and Amherst College) do not endorse these products above any others.
