Broadly speaking, my research focuses on the ecology and evolution of host-parasite interactions. Such interactions provide an exceptional model for many areas of evolutionary ecology due to their rapid dynamics. Moreover, they have strong applied relevance for human, animal and plant health and conservation.
My main focus has been on understanding what drives the emergence of pathogens in new host species. Currently, I am investigating the importance of hybridization in disease emergence and in host range expansion.
