This is a role playing game in which the player controlls a hero that can be male or female and has to fight enemies and solve various puzzeles in a fantasy world. At the beginning of the game, one of the main male characters introduces himself with the sentence “I am strong, as a man should be.” In the demo version, the hero roams around a village and talks to the inhabitants, who are of several different races, yet are all male, even though most of them are not fighters but healers.
This is a strategy game set in the historical period between the Dark Age and the rise of the Roman Empire. All of the fighter units in the game are male, which is to be expected, since the game had to stay true to the way things happened in history. However, it is more difficult to see why the non-fighting villagers are also all male.
In version 2 of the game, Age of Kings, Microsoft added female villagers, which can perform the same tasks as the male ones. Also, Joan D’Arc is the hero of one of the campaigns. She is represented by a fighter unit with better skills than ordinary fighters. However, the player cannot risk to involve her in fights to often, as the game will end if she dies. The instructions for playing the campaign also emphasise that she needs to be protected.
This is a strategy game set in a fantasy world. Players can choose from 12
different races, each with different units. However, almost all units that have
a gender are male. For example, among the first level units, the fighters of
all races are male; the only female units are the Elf nymph and the Dark Elf
lady of pain, whose primary power lies in seducing their enemies. Both female
units will hit back if attacked, but they are weak and will not last long in
hand-to-hand combat.
