IV.  Special Orders

Constitutional Amendment

In the Constitution, only senators could join the Disciplinary Committee.

Rothschild looked at Constitution and made the necessary changes so that all students would be eligible for Disciplinary Committee elections.

  Das motions to approve amendment.

  Debate:

o  Cons:

A school-wide election for seats in the DC may encourage platforms that are too radical, but these platforms may easily win in these elections

People’s platforms will influence their decisions in the DC

Senators may be know who will be better qualified

A campus wide election would publicize the names of those elected to the DC, and people could take heat for their decisions

o  Pros:

  This promotes direct democracy

There is nothing about being a Senator that makes people better qualified to serve on the DC

Das moves to question. Stein seconds.
