Elek and Plumer Add to Postseason AccoladesMarch 16, 2007 PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Amherst College women’s hockey team continues to be recognized for its amazing 2006-07 campaign, as head coach Jim Plumer is among the finalists for American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Women’s Ice Hockey Coach of the Year (Division III), while first-year goaltender Krystyn Elek (Summerville, SC) has been named to the Division III RBK Women’s Hockey All-America Second Team by the AHCA. Nineteen Division III women’s hockey players were named Thursday to an All-America Team: six to an All-America East First Team, seven to an Alll-America West First Team, and six to an All-America East Second Team. Elek, the only first-year named to an All-America Team, has already been named NESCAC Rookie of the Year as a member of the All-NESCAC First Team. Plumer’s ability to turn Amherst’s women’s hockey program around earned him NESCAC Coach of the Year honors, and now his success has been recognized on a national level. To be a finalist for the Coach of the Year award, you must either be voted Coach of the Year in your conference or take your team to the NCAA Frozen Four. The award will be presented at the AHCA Coach of the Year Banquet on Saturday, April 28, in Naples, FL. The Lord Jeffs will be facing two members of this year’s All-America First Team and one member of the Second Team when they pair up with Plattsburgh Friday night, as well as fellow Coach of the Year finalist Kevin Houle.
