Men's Golf Seventh at Toski Invite

AMHERST, MA - Led by junior Jude Volek's (New York, NY) eighth place showing, the Amherst College men's golf team fired a two-day combined score of 616 to finish seventh overall at the Toski Intercollegiate Invitational, hosted by Central Connecticut State University at the Hickory Ridge Country Club on Sunday and Monday.
Volek tied for the tournament lead with a scorching 71 on Sunday and rebounded with a 78 on Monday to lead the Jeffs individually. He was followed by junior Todd Ballaban (Thousand Oaks, CA) and senior captain Mike Blaisdell (South Strafford, VT) - who tied for 29th with matching scores of 155. Meanwhile, Amherst first-year Justin Sharaf (Danvers, MA) shot a 157 to finish tied for 34th, and junior Steve Collins (Beverly Hills, MI) tied for 62nd with a 163 total.
Yale University shot a 586 total to claim the team championship, led by individual champion Chris Eckerle's tournament-low 143. Host Central Connecticut State finished second with a 597, followed by Dartmouth College in third place with a score of 603.
Amherst returns to action this Thursday at the WNEC Invitational.
