New on-campus alumni program debuts
The Office of Alumni and Parent Programs invites readers to Amherst
Today,
a new series of on-campus educational programs for alumni, parents and friends.
Each three-day program will feature classes Friday morning and afternoon
and again on Saturday morning, meals with faculty and other program participants,
and opportunities to attend regular
classes and extracurricular activities with Amherst students. Taught by Amherst
faculty, the classes will include “homework” and advance reading,
so that participants can enjoy an active classroom experience. To facilitate
discussion, each program will be limited to 50 participants.
The first Amherst Today program, on “Interpreting Legality: How Law Makes
Sense of the World,” took place March 4-6 and was taught by faculty members
from the department of Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought. Two subsequent
programs (a September course on global climate change and a November program
on the modern European city) will feature faculty from the departments of Fine
Arts, French, Geology, History and Women’s and Gender Studies.
The cost of each program is $175 per person. Participants are responsible for
their own travel and lodging. Additional
information is available online, or by
calling (413) 542-2313.
