In Memoriam: Irene Rothberg
Amherst College notes the passing of Irene Rothberg on May 30, 2012. Rothberg came to the college in 1977 as department secretary and assistant to the chair of the Department of Theater and Dance, and she worked there until her retirement in 1997. Open Enrollment Period for AC Employee Benefits: Now Through June 1
The college's annual Open Enrollment Period has begun. You may request benefit changes to your insurance coverage at this time. Our Annual Benefits Fair will be held in the Mullins & Faerber Rooms in Lewis-Sebring Commons of Valentine Hall on Tuesday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During the fair, you can gather information from our insurance vendors, ask questions and maybe even win a raffle prize! Check the Office of Human Resources website for more information on the Open Enrollment Period, as well as the dates and times for other meetings.

Campus Challenge Update: We Did It!
By April 1, we had collected 3,682 pounds in our yearlong food drive for the Amherst Survival Center. We have now collected over 10,000 pounds and met our Campus Challenge goal! Congratulations, Amherst!

2011 Town of Amherst Water Quality Report Now Online
The Safe Drinking Water Act of 1996 requires public drinking water suppliers to send out annual consumer confidence reports outlining the quality of drinking water provided to consumers. The report details where drinking water comes from, what it contains and the risks that water testing and treatment are trying to prevent. The Town of Amherst's 2011 Water Quality Report, which will be mailed to all billed water customers by July 1, 2012, is available to members of the campus and local communities on the Town of Amherst website or upon request by calling the Town of Amherst Department of Public Works at 413-259-3050.

Campus Challenge: We Did It!
We aimed to involve 75 percent of all faculty, staff and students in the Campus Challenge; to collect 10,000 pounds of food and $10,000 for the Amherst Survival Center; and to engage 25 percent of all faculty, staff and students in interfaith engagement. We accomplished our goal! The entire campus was mobilized around reducing poverty and hunger. For all of the details, visit the Campus Challenge website at the following link:

Responsible Student Driver Needed to Drive from Amherst to Petersham Several Times Per Month
The Department of Chemistry needs a responsible student driver to drive from Amherst College to Harvard Forest, located in Petersham, Mass. Total round-trip driving time is approximately two hours, two to eight times per month, totaling 4 to 16 hours per month, through Aug. 31. The student must have a valid driver's license and enroll on campus with vehicle administration. Please note that every employee hired for a position at Amherst College must, by law, complete U.S. Form I-9 showing valid employment authorization in the United States. The wage is $8 per hour. Reception for Peter Shea Today at 4 p.m.
To recognize his dedicated service as treasurer of Amherst College and to wish him well as he moves on to The Roxbury Latin School, there will be a reception to celebrate our friend and colleague Peter Shea on Monday, June 25, at 4 p.m. in Lewis-Sebring Dining Commons. Hors d'oeuvres will be served.
