Facilities Department Announces Tree Work for July
There are several trees on the Amherst College campus that must be taken down, as recommended by a consulting arborist who periodically evaluates the condition and health of campus trees. Given the risk to the campus community associated with the degraded condition of these trees, the college is left with no option other than removing them. The Facilities Department has hired a contractor to remove these at-risk trees, the majority of which are on peripheral locations of the campus. This work will be done during the weeks of July 18 and July 25.

Facilities Department Announces Vine Removal for July
There are vines growing on Frost Library, Morgan Hall and Arms Music Building. One problem with the vines is that their tentacles grow into the mortar and eventually cause the mortar to crack. The other problem is the insects that the vines attract. In order to preserve the buildings, college personnel will be cutting and, where possible, removing the vines from the buildings during the last two weeks in July. This work should cause no disruption to building occupants.
