Symposia in Honor of Benjamin DeMott at Amherst College June 1 and 2
Amherst College will present two symposia in honor of Benjamin DeMott, the novelist, social and literary critic who died last year. An emeritus professor of English at Amherst at the time of his death, DeMott is remembered as a legendary teacher who brought his strikingly original mind to the reading of texts of all kinds. Part of the Amherst College Reunion Weekend, both events are free and open to the general public.

Museum of Natural History Reception June 2
The Amherst College Museum of Natural History is pleased to announce that it will hold a reception to celebrate its opening on Friday, June 2, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. All staff, faculty, students and alumni are invited, and refreshments will be served. Medical Services During Commencement and Reunion Periods
Between Monday, May 22, and Saturday, June 3, Amherst College Health Services at the Keefe Health Center will be open as follows: May 22 through 26 - 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 27 - 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Sunday, May 28 - 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m; Friday, June 2 - 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 3 - 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Students continue to be covered for urgent medical needs at the University of Massachusetts Health Center (413/577-5000) during hours when the Keefe Health Center is closed. Visitors and families may utilize the University Health Center for urgent medical needs on a "fee-for- service" basis. Contact the University Health Center at (413/577-5000).

Today's Spring Picnic To Be Held Indoors
The Annual Spring Picnic held Wednesday, June 7, will be held indoors in Valentine Dining Hall.

Closure of Quadrangle Road June 5 - 9
There will be major equipment and material deliveries for the Charles Pratt and Steam Line Upgrade projects during the week of June 5. These deliveries will require that the west, south and east sections of Quadrangle Road be closed according to the schedule below. While the road is closed there will be no vehicular traffic or parking allowed. Also, during these times, the north section of Quadrangle Road (in front of Frost Library) will become two-way, and parking will be prohibited. Closures: Monday, June 5 - 6 a.m. to noon; Tuesday, June 6 - 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, June 9 - 6 a.m. to noon.

Development Office Write-a-Thon Workers Needed
Earn extra money and help Amherst College! If you are in the Class of 2007, 2008 or 2009, the Development Office is looking for students to work the write- a-thon for the Annual Fund. The write-a-thon will be held at Phoenix Row (above Subway in the center of town) and involves writing a note to alumni who have not yet given to the Annual Fund this year and asking them to make a gift. This program has flexible hours, Tuesday, June 6, through Friday, June 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The pay is $7/hour If interested, contact Carolyn Wills at crwills@amherst.edu or 413/542-8238 to discuss your availability.

Phonathon Workers Needed
If you are in the Class of 2007, 2008 or 2009, the Development Office is looking for students to work the Phonathon for the Annual Fund. The Phonathon will be held in the evenings (except for Sunday, June 25, when it will be held 1-5 p.m.) at Smith House and entails calling alumni who have yet to give to the Annual Fund this year and asking them to make a gift. The pay is $7.50/hour. Dinner will be provided each night, as well as raffle prizes. The phonathon will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Calling will take place: Monday - Thursday, June 19 - 22 Sunday - June 25 (Time: 1-5 p.m.) Monday Friday, June 26 - 30 If interested, please contact Carolyn Wills at crwills@amherst.edu or 542- 8238 to discuss your availability.
