"Where I've Been"
By Emily M. Greene '01
It's not quite warm enough for t-shirts, shorts and sandals
But here we are, with our blankets spread out on the grass
A Friday afternoon, the cover of a college view book
Sixteen hundred students skipping class
Just four short years ago
I came knocking on the doorstep of my future
Ready for the trip of a lifetime
Rarin' to go, but so afraid and so unsure
When all is said and done
Can I truly say that I had so much fun?
And when the verdict is in
Will the truth come out
Or is this just one more place where I have been? Where I have been
They have taught me to work harder, faster, stronger, better
And I am learning how to take my time
So go ahead and make your millions
Ill do just fine with my dimes
When all is said and done
Can you truly say that you had so much fun?
And when the verdict is in
Will the truth come out
Or is this just one more place where you have been? Where you have been
And after all the hoops I've jumped through
The words written on the way
So many years finding just what I need
To say exactly, to say exactly what I mean to say, what I need to say
And I will say my goodbyes
And when the time comes I promise to be strong
I'll watch a lawn full of people
Who've spent four years finding out where they belong
When all is said and done
I want us to say that we had so much fun
And when the verdict is in
Will the truth come out
Or is this just one more place where we have been?
Or is this just one more place where you have been?
Or is this just one more place where I have been?
